Supply Chain

What is Eqwools?

How wool moves forward

eqwools™ unlocks wool in non-traditional wool supply chains — the places where the world’s brands design, develop, and manufacture today.

By working within the world’s existing cotton-based systems, eqwools™ re-engineers Premium Australian Merino to move seamlessly from farm to finished garment. Not as a disruption, but as the shift that opens wool up — to scale, to relevance, and to modern manufacturing.

Rather than thinking in steps, we think in connections. Every decision travels up and down the chain. The result is a connected system where fibre, spinning, fabric, garment, and brand requirements are aligned – intentionally.

This is wool, reintroduced with reach, relevance, and performance built in.

The eqwools™ supply chain

Allowing wool to be easy and accessible and in everything.

From grower to garment, eqwools™ is engineered to move through the world’s most efficient textile pathways — adapting wool to the systems already powering global manufacturing.

By fitting seamlessly into established cotton-based supply chains, eqwools™ unlocks new production locations, new partnerships, and new possibilities for wool — in regions and factories where traditional wool was never designed to operate.

Cross-tier:
The eqwools™ advantage

One fibre. Fully Connected.
eqwools™ doesn’t operate at a single tier – it moves between them, aligning people, processes, and outcomes across the entire chain.

Designed to move together
Nothing happens in isolation. Every decision is made with what comes next — and what came before – in mind.

  • Fibre choices are made with spinning in mind
  • Spinning parameters are set to support fabric performance
  • Fabric constructions are aligned with garment use
  • Brand claims are backed by what the fibre can actually deliver

And through it all, traceability moves intact — from grower to garment to consumer – ensuring confidence at every stage.

What becomes possible

  • Faster development cycles
  • Smoother collaboration between partners
  • Shared confidence across fibre, fabric, and finished product

eqwools™ acts as the connector – translating fibre innovation into real-world results and enabling brands to accelerate the replacement of synthetic fibres while delivering natural comfort, performance, and consumer-ready benefits at scale.

Tier 0 — Brands & Retailers

Where material intent becomes reality

The Role

Brands shape product briefs, material strategies, and consumer promises – then bring
eqwools™ to market across everyday categories, from casual and active to intimates
and denim.

The Shift

  • Nominated supply chains for full transparency and control
  • Recommended partners connected through eqwools™
  • Ongoing collaboration as ranges, markets and needs evolve

The Collaboration

  • Fibre strategy alignment and material selection support
  • End-to-end technical and supply-chain support guidance
  • Physical traceability through FibreTrace®
  • Swing tags, content and verified consumer claims

The Advantage

  • Wool beyond traditional sourcing models
  • Accessible wool fabrics for mainstream ranges
  • Clear, provable traceability
  • Lower risk, less complexity, more confidence

The Outcome

Wool that’s easier to specify, easier to trust, and ready for everyday collections

Tier 1 - Finished Garment Makers

From material choice to wearable product

The Role

Garment makers cut, sew, assemble, and finish apparel across woven, circular knit,
flatbed knit, and accessory categories – the final step before products meet the
consumers.

The Shift

A dual push–pull model keeps everything moving:

  • Brands specify eqwools™ → demand flows down
  • eqwools™ connects supply-ready partners → capability flows up

The Collaboration

  • Supply-chain introductions that remove friction early
  • Clear consumer benefit language that connects fibre to feeling
  • Swing tags, fibre stories, and traceability tools
  • Support for innovation, testing, and product launch

The Advantage

  • Garment makers: New fabric options, clear storytelling, faster routes to market
  • Brands: aligned supply and consistent fibre narratives
  • The system: demand and capability moving in sync

The Outcome

Garment makers can deliver differentiated products with confidence and speed.

Tier 2 - Fabric Makers (Knitters & Weavers)

Where functionality takes form.

The Role

Yarns are transformed into finished knitted and woven fabrics – then enhanced through
dyeing, finishing, brushing, raising, and surface treatments that define feel, function, and
final performance.

This is where eqwools™ moves from concept to cloth – and where innovation becomes
something you can touch, test and specify .

The Shift

  • Enables wool-containing fabrics at accessible price points
  • Shorter, more localised supply chains – reducing lead times
  • Wool performance – without traditional complexity

The Collaboration

  • Practical dyeing and finishing guidance
  • Technical collaboration via Deakin University and specialist partners
  • Fabric development insight backed by testing – not assumptions

The Advantage

  • Fabric mills: Differentiated fabrics with natural performance built in
  • Downstream partners: Faster response times and more flexible sourcing
  • Brands: fabrics that elevate every product without adding complexity

The outcome

Fabrics that feel better, perform better, and give brands a clear reason to choose wool.

Tier 3 - Spinners

Wool, engineered to run where the world spins

The Role

Short-staple spinners convert eqwools™ fibre into yarn using existing short-staple
spinning systems – familiar, efficient, and proven. No new machinery. No unfamiliar
processes. Just a fibre that behaves as expected.

The Shift

  • Engineered to work within cotton systems – and keep evolving beyond them
  • Blends seamlessly with cotton, MMCF, synthetics, and emerging combinations as trails progress
  • Transforms everyday yarns into differentiated, higher-value offerings

The Collaboration

  • Clear fibre preparation and blending guidance, built for real mill conditions
  • Hands-on technical support – on-site and remote
  • Trial planning that leads somewhere commercial, not just experimental
  • Brand-driven demand that creates pull for new yarns

The Advantage

  • Spinners: Higher-value yarns, broader customer reach, new margins
  • Brands & mills: wool yarns available in more manufacturing locations
  • The system: wool made practical, repeatable, and commercially viable

The outcome

More wool entering modern supply chains – without changing how wool is grown.

Tier 4 - Growers & Fibre Makers

More of the fleece put to work

The Role

Premium Australian Merino wool is grown, shorn, then expertly prepared by
Michell Wool, Australia’s last remaining first-stage wool processor – where heritage meets innovation.

And the short fibres?
They don’t get left behind.
They’re carefully refined, re-engineered, and elevated into eqwools™ – unlocking new performance possibilities, new applications, and a far bigger future for wool.

The Shift

  • Broadens how the fleece is utilised, without changing how it’s grown
  • Maximises use of the whole fleece
  • Creates new commercial pathways for growers, naturally

The Collaboration

  • Close alignment with growers and first-stage processing teams to ensure fibre integrity
  • Consistent preparation standards that support performance down the supply chain
  • Traceability that starts at the source and stays with the fibre
  • Partnerships built for the long haul — not just the next season

The Advantage

  • Growers: Greater utilisation, stronger returns, reduced waste and greater resilience
  • The system: Smarter use of a natural, renewable resource
  • The industry: More wool available for modern, everyday applications

The Outcome

A better beginning – for the fleece, the fibre, and everything that follows
